Rules and Regulations

When photographing a wedding there are tons and tons of littlw secrets to remember to make that perfect image. In fact there are so many to remember that you can't possibly remember them all when shooting. I keep an ongoing list that gets added to every time I photograph a wedding. Sometimes I put the rule ion their twice because it is that important and I forget it. Here is my list for those of you trying to take better wedding pictures.

Take TWO of everything.
Don't half circle big groups, make sure to angle them.
Always avoid shooting a caterer when shooting the cake.
Get in CLOSE, nevermind the background, just get in close.
Do Not Stand Directly Behind People. Move off to the side or in between 2 people.
Make sure female guests CLOSE THEIR LEGS.
Close bathroom Doors!
Get more Family shots. (Like couples)
Get shots of the Groom.
When shooting alchohol/drinks on ice, line them up.
Have tripod ready to Go!!
Shoot Doubles always!! Get the blink out.
Get groom at the alter.
Tell the guys to Relax their Hands!
Set the White Balance!
THE DRESS! THE DRESS! THE DRESS!
When they pose with minister, make them connect.
Stand/Sit up straight! TELL THEM!!
Angle bodies in with Formals.
Navigate up and down the aisle in Ceremony.
Check the floor for Debris!!
Don't block the groom! He is important too!
It is okay to get shots of the CHEF.
Include the Feet! Even if it looks odd- Take multiples BUT TAKE THEM!!
Sunglasses OFF!
Hands in Pockets!
One leg up on Steps!
Take the time to check for heads in the Family Portrait.
